Roloff friend - Daniel Meichtry is engaged - Congratulations!

Fans of Little People, Big World have seen the Roloff kids grow up -- when it began Jeremy and Zach hadn't yet started high school and now they're in college at age 20. Fans have also seen their close group of friends also grow up as most of the friends have remained the same.

Daniel Meichtry is one of Jeremy and Zach's core group of friends that fans have seen on the show since the beginning. In our exclusive interview (which has since become historic - since it is basically the first and most likely last - completely open and honest interview with a friend of the Roloffs) with Dan in 2009, he mentioned that his girlfriend Erica was set to move to Oregon that summer from California.

We've just been informed that Dan proposed to Erica yesterday and she said yes -- Dan is officially engaged!

In all of my dealings with Dan for the interview I found him to be a complete class act. Personally, I thought he handled some very difficult and uncomfortable questions exceptionally well and faced them head on, displaying tremendous character in the process. What really shone through in my communication with Dan was how much he cared about his friends and of course his then girlfriend - Erica.

So congratulations to Dan and best wishes to the both of them.

I liked Dan a lot after that interview. I'm happy for them.

This must be another growing up experience for Jeremy and Zach. You graduate high school, some friends begin to move away or get married.

Dan, congratulations! :)

How old is he? I hope it all goes well.

So Dan is getting married, meanwhile Jer and Zach are still living at home sharing a room like the past 20 years. Hmmm.

I wonder if Amy still thinks the show hasn't stunted their growth as people?

Congratulations Dan. David, I think he's 19 or 20. If it's right, I don't believe people have to wait years and years to get married. I know a lot of people that were married young and are still together, my parents being an example.

Congrats Daniel! How funny, I just saw the old episode where Dan stayed out all night with Jeremy and Zach. They've grown up!

From only the show, Dan seemed like the one friend in the early years of the show was nice to Zach. I remember him waiting for Zach and carrying him up the stairs for the winter dance when he had his broken leg (Jeremy went running ahead...).

I'm very happy for them.

Sending my heartfelt congratulations to Dan.

The part I was impressed with about Dan in that interview was that he loves God. I am glad that Jeremy and Zach always have and still have friends that are proud Christians like Dan.

Brandon, your comment is out of place. It is not a race to get married. I am glad that Dan has found the woman that was meant for him at a young age.

God has a plan and the same will happen for Jeremy and Zach when God wants it to happen.

Matt says Jeremy is enjoying playing the field right now and that's his decision. What is right for one person, is not necessarily right for another.

Good for Dan. Best wishes :)

I can't wait until Jeremy and Jacob tie the knot in Canada.

That is so sad he just been out of High School for only a year! he is Nineteen years old soon to be Twenty. Shouldnt he first and for most try and finish college if he is in college and also try and live a little before he settles down. What is the rush to get married? And if she lives in California and is moving to Oregon I only hope that she is maybe transferring to another College and hopefully finds her self a job unless her parents have money and she does not have to yet work but finish School. And if that is not the case I at least hope that she will live on campus and not be moving in with Dan before marriage that would be an awful thing for Dan and Erica to do. But Congradulations any way and best of luck to you both and God Bless.

Erica moved into Dan's parents house when she moved to Hillsboro and Dan moved out and into an apartment with some friends.

Without knowing their relationship or how well they get along, I won't judge. There are some people that get married young and it's a disaster. There are others that find their soulmate young and it's the best thing they did.

Why not wait? Reading Dan's interview with Spirits, I think there is a good chance Dan is the type of Christian that believes living together before you're married is a sin. They've probably been dating for 3 years. Maybe they think it's time.

I used to think Dan was a big time jerk until he owned up to some of the things he did years ago. Everyone makes mistakes. What matters is if you regret them and learn from them. Some do like Dan. Some don't like Jeremy and Mueller.

I wish Dan and Erica well.

Dan was going to PCC here last fall, but he works for Apple. His older brother works there.

Anonymous 4:01, life is too short to wait because other people tell you that's what you should do. If they know in their hearts that's what God wants that's what they should do.

Congratulations Dan. I thought it was cute how he talked about her. I could tell how much he loved her too.

I wonder how her parents feel though?

Apple is a good company. He must be making a lot of money? Do they have a place to live?

To the naysayers, you don't even know when the date is. Many people are engaged for years before getting married. It wasn't like they just started dating. It will be years between when they started dating and when they get married.

Does anyone else think it's funny that Jeremy is the heartthrob, but he's twenty, lives at home, doesn't have a real job and all he has is a bunch of flings.

But his friend apparently has a serious relationship, is about to get married, he has a job and has moved out of his parents place.

Looks like at least one of the DBU is growing up.

I think they are very cute together. Go Dan and Erica!

I wish him well, but my advice to guys is don't trust girls when you're young no matter how much you think you might love them.

I don't care if it's not PC. Girls that age are devious and will ruin a guy's life.

Brandon, Jeremy dumping clingy Kirsten and not letting another girl dig her claws into him proves that he is smart.

It's lovely to see people in love. Congratulations Dan and Erica!

"Craw" Sometimes it is not what God tells you what to do. It is called common sense. And you do have to use it at all times. We as human beings some times get caught up in the moment and don't think beyond those moments and that means that we may regret what we have done or said.

With that said that was the point I was trying to make. I have a problem when people like you wanting to throw God in to a situation, Yes he can be part of your decesion making but it is you in the end that has the final say, and that is using and having common sense for your self because you could and can have long term effects of making either a good or bad choice.

So I just hope that any one that is going to make a decesion like this weigh in the pros and cons. Once you make your decesion there is almost no turning back, and their is a chance that you may pay for the choices you have now made. So use your common sense and judgements wisely before making such a big long commited like that that was the point I was trying to make .

Craw said...

Who are you to say they don't have common sense? People do meet their soulmates young. Both Dan and Erica love God. If they leave it to God, then God will give them the answer of what they should do and they know that getting married is what they should do. It's stupid to not do something because other people warn against it.

Craw you see only what you want to see and no one else opinions matter. So I am now done with and you need to get a life.

They're not the only ones. Fans remember Dani from the "Zach is dating" episodes?

She is engaged to their friend Brendon

Melanie said...

Crazy kids! Whats with them? It's the in thing to get engaged??

Lynn C said...

I wonder who will be next? Mueller?

Z to the Zee said...

Lynn, Mueller's girlfriend dumped him before summer started.

Christine said...

That's not surprising about Mueller's girlfriend dumping him.

Seriously what girl would put up with Mueller's and Jeremy's....thing? I don't even know what you'd call it? Relationship? It's more than a normal friendship. They can't do anything without each other.

I wish Dan better than Brendon :) All I know about Brendon is he crashed his truck, his parents are rich and back in the day he used to whine and complain about how some girl told him he was cute after she saw him on the show. One of those kind of guys. Oh the horrors, someone is being nice to me! Listen to me whine!
